Back-to-basics church community for Jesus followers and explorers, offering fellowship under Christ instead of religious business church-as-corporation.
“Freely you received; freely give.” – Matthew 10:8
BASICS is a community for people who want less empty religion, less corporate-machine church, no scandalous church leaders, and more following Jesus together in Faith, Truth, Love, and Good Purposes.
“Empty religion has no power. What matters is real faith that makes you really love people.” – Galatians 5:6
“Speaking truth in love, grow more like our head—Christ.” – Ephesians 4:15b
If you are looking for the attributes below, let’s connect and grow in Christ together!
Good Purpose:
We gather to experience and share the hope of a redeemed and abundant life that Jesus offers.
“Thieves come to steal. I came to give life to the full.” — John 10:10
Relational Environment:
We offer an environment where men and women can grow in Jesus and support one another the way His first followers did.
They shared in the conversation, encouragement, singing, prayer, and meeting needs. So do we.
“Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good things.” — Hebrews 10:24
“When you come together, each of you has a song, a teaching, a special insight God has given.” — 1 Cor. 14:26
Support Toward Potential:
We are for you if you want to learn about Jesus or grow in Him in the meaningful life He has for you.
“He leads me to peaceful streams, refreshes my life, and guides me along right paths.” — Psalm 23-1:3
To those hurting from circumstances outside your control or even mistakes you aren’t proud of, they do not define you and cannot control your future (from personal experience). God leads to good destinations.
“Anyone in Christ is a new creation. The old has passed away; the new has come.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17
“I will restore health to you and heal your wounds.” — Jeremiah 30:17
“He bore our sins on the tree so we could die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds we are healed.” — 1 Peter 2:2
“There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus." — Romans 8:1
We want to help you see and reach the potential Christ sees in you!
Biblical Beliefs:
God is creator and Lord of all creation. He knows how everything works.
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” — Genesis 1:1
You are not an accident or a problem.
You are a wonderful work, created by God, on purpose for good purposes.
“You are God’s poem, created on purpose for good purposes in Christ Jesus.” — Ephesians 2:10
The Bible is God’s timeless Word for wise living.
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” — Psalm 119:105
Love is a choice, not an impulse. Love was best exhibited when Jesus gave His own life for the sins of humankind.
“God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16
Because of what He did, everyone who believes in Him as Lord and Savior is saved and adopted as a child of God.
“To all who did receive Him, to all who believed in His name, He gave the right to become God’s children.” — 1 John 1:12
Authentic Jesus followers are not perfect people (or who pretent to be).
They are grateful people who recognize that they have been rescued from lives under thorns and death into hope and good purposes.
“You have been rescued. Where you go now, healthy trees will grow where thorns once did.” — Isaiah 55:12-13
Living for Christ is not about perfection but progress.
If we live how much of Christ’s light we have and share the light we know, God blesses it even as we grow.
“You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” — Matthew 5:14-16
God’s kingdom is not about manufactured buildings, institutions, or religious businesses.
It is all people who follow the living Jesus, love others like He loves us, and help one another follow Him in meaningful, fulfilling lives.
“Don’t you realize your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given by God?” — 1 Cor. 6:19
“The Most High does not dwell in buildings made by hands.” — Acts 7:48
“You like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood.” — 1 Peter 2:5
“When you come together, each of you has a song, or a teaching, a special insight God has given.” — 1 Cor. 14:26
“Therefore, encourage and build each other up in Christ.” — 1 Thessalonian 5:11
God’s kingdom has no class divisions. There is one Lord, and we are equal brothers and sisters.
“We one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” — Ephesians 4:5-6

A Worthy Vision:
FEWER business-churches and private club churches.
FEWER false teachers leading people into heavy burdens or self-indulgence.
LESS pomp and circumstance over substance.
NO MORE scandals of religious leaders using and abusing the people they should be serving.
MORE communities of “one another” people who look like they spend time with Jesus because they exhibit the love, joy, hope, and support of Christ.
“Come to me, all who are weary… I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28
“As I have loved you, love one another. By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples.” — John 13:34-35
If you are looking for a Jesus-followers community like this, we are looking for you! Let’s help each other follow Him!

“Hello” from Robin and Claire Redick
Thank you for taking a moment to see what we offer.
BASIC comes from a desire, after 15 years of pastoring within one of the largest institutional denominations, for a simple, biblically authentic Christian community of people who help one another grow in Christ and good deeds (Hebrews 10:19-25).
No celebrity pastors
No theatre
No using Jesus for business
No egoistic people pursuing influential roles to create social cliques, propagate hate, or support self-centered habits.
No community for just the rich.
These things oppose what Jesus did, taught, and wants for His Church.
Around the world, God is calling people to leave institutional business churches, not to leave their faith but to keep it. They become exasperated by corporate machinery, financial indiscretions, immorality, abuse cover-ups, unbiblical social cliques, and endless programs to maintain.
Among these are ministers who, rather than desiring personal kingdoms, want to help people find and follow Jesus in His Kingdom.
We are among those.
I (Robin) am an ordained minister who, for 15 years, served the largest institutional denomination in the United States as a pastor, youth pastor, marriage pastor, and in other pastoral roles. To help equip myself, I earned a doctorate and master’s degree in ministry.
I (Claire) have served churches as children’s ministry leader, youth ministry leader, middle and high school education administrator, finance administrator, and missions support coordinator. I currently coordinate community enrichment missions for the nonprofit, Mission 127.
Claire and I have both always served bi-vocationally, keeping day work to provide for our family.
Over the years, God began impressing upon me that this institutional religion I served was off-track and that my ambitions for high influence within it were misplaced.
I saw abuses of power, misuse of money, and other selfish things that for-hire pastors and even volunteer committee members did to gain (or keep) power and influence.
Still, I was taught (by institutional leaders, not the Bible) that the institutional religious system was “Christ’s bride” (a biblical descriptor for His global church), so I kept trying to influence positively and respectfully within this system. I managed to do good things but remained unsettled.
In 2023, while pastoring at a large (but declining) church, I was asked to propose a satellite church to lead. Here was a great chance to make some adjustments.
For this new church, I felt led to propose a simple, non-ornate environment, for the leaders (including me) to serve as volunteers instead of for money, and to not have a stage (it separates and elevates “clergy” over everyone else).
I proposed a layout where everyone would sit in face-to-face circles and leaders would sit within the circles. Having a background in pedagogy(teaching methods), I also wanted to replace monologue with dialogue for relational engagement and better learning.
Finally, I proposed to not be entitled “Senior Pastor”. Instead, I wanted plural leadership, where leaders would be accountable to each other and members.
To help us start, I requested that two to three helper families join me for six months. The committee could choose the families.
My proposal was rejected utterly on two grounds.
1. “We don’t want to send anyone out, even temporarily. We need more people here so we can be big again.”
2. “It’s not a church without a stage or a Senior Pastor who uses executive authority to keep everyone in line.”
This committee, when I requested them to do so, could not articulate any New Testament passages about church leadership qualifications (Titus 1, 1 Timothy 3) or church administration (found throughout the book of Acts).
So, fully recognizing that the system I had been serving was more focused on serving itself than serving Jesus or His people, I gave up my position (and salary) and stepped away.
However, I didn’t say “no more church”. Instead, God drew me forward in a faith journey of building a New Testament-aligned, back-to-the-basics Jesus followers community. I am not alone. God is doing this all around the world.
By following God this way, Claire and I don’t intend any declarations against organizing (organizing is required to keep purpose, and anything organized is, to at least a degree, institutional). Further, we maintain a good relationship with our local association.
Claire and I simply became weary of serving within overly institutionalized churches that focused more on maintaining themselves than serving Christ.
We wanted to be part of the Church described in God’s Word. Fellowships of humble people who remember what Christ did for them and want to help others receive what they did.
“God brought you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Now are His very own possession, a group of holy priests. This is so you may tell others about all the wonderful things He has done.” – 1 Peter 2:9
If you join this community of Christ’s global Chuch, you will be welcomed as a community member, not a spectator or customer.
You don’t need to “have your life all together” either. Who does? We’re all “Work-In-Progress” who need Jesus. Let’s follow Him together.
Hope to see you and serve you soon!
